Shelby is a Ph.D. candidate in the Anthropology Department whose research uses archaeological and paleoethnobotanical techniques to study how and what people were eating in the past. Her current research focuses on the cuisine of medieval Zanzibar at four archaeological sites across the islands of Unguja and Pemba.
