Michael Angland
INTL_ST 395 Instructor | Department of Anthropology

Michael is a PhD candidate in the Department of Anthropology. His current research project Hate Has No Home in the 19th Ward: Everyday Liberalism On Chicago’s South Side examines how self-identified liberal white residents work to develop a liberal neighborhood within a historically Irish Catholic and racially stratified area of Chicago’s South Side. He analyzes residents’ “everyday liberalism” as a way of living that brings together liberal principles of political economy, aesthetic preferences, consumptive choices, and a moral framework for ordering the world.
