Michael Angland

Michael is a PhD candidate in the Department of Anthropology. His dissertation explores the racial and classed dimensions of white liberal residents' efforts to make a liberal community in the South Side Chicago neighborhoods of Beverly and Morgan Park. Originally from Ireland, Michael holds a BA in Middle Eastern Studies from Cambridge and MA in Anthropology from the EHESS in Paris. His research uses an outside culturalist perspective to reframe and rethink axiomatic understandings of US culture and society.
