Andrés Schelp
Department of Political Science

Andrés Schelp is an Argentine PhD candidate (ABD) in Political Science at Northwestern University. His research examines how international assessments of countries’ political regimes and economic performance socially pressure states. He analyzes the extent to which these global social factors and information-driven pressures exert a subtle influence on the reputations of evaluated states, shaping both foreign policy decision-making and domestic governance evaluations. His dissertation focuses on how, and to what extent, global democracy indices can condition states by generating social, developmental, and diplomatic costs and benefits. In his spare time, Andrés enjoys watching football (soccer), listening to music (mostly indie rock), and practicing various arts, including acting, singing, and writing.
