IS Major Nina Sedeno to present paper at Undergrad Research Expo

Congratulations to IS major Nina Sedeno, who will be presenting her paper, "Women, Armed Conflict and Peace in Nepal" at the Undergraduate Research Expo in the Fall!
In her paper, Nina examines the role of women in Nepal's civil war that took place from 1996 to 2006. She raises the question of how situations of armed conflict and peacebuilding influence women's empowerment and contribute to the social transformation of predominantly patriarchal societies post-conflict. She found that while women were afforded greater roles and opportunities, gender equalities persisted in the reconstruction period.
