About
The International Studies program is the gateway to the study of global affairs in the Weinberg College at Northwestern. Our mission is to encourage and support student education and scholarship in international affairs. We are open to all Weinberg students and to students from across the university. We offer a comprehensive, interdisciplinary curriculum as well as weekly seminars, research support for students, career counseling, public events, and more.
Led by our director, Ian Hurd, the IS community includes 200 students, a core of a dozen faculty and many more faculty who offer courses and events, graduate student content facilitators, and a wide range of outside specialists, practitioners, and professionals from all fields to offer courses, events, and advice to our students.
IS works closely with other academic units, including Legal Studies, Political Science, the Buffett Institute for Global Studies, Global Engagement Studies Institute (GESI), the Medill School of Journalism, Global Health Studies, and more.
